The hype created around this 17.3 inch Asus N73Jn is about its speakers and amplifiers from the sound experts Bang & Olufsen replacing the standard laptop speakers. This machine runs on dual core Intel Core i5-520M processor with 4 GB RAM and two hard drives of 320GB.

The Asus N73Jn is a huge laptop by any standards. Its dimensions are 420 x 287 x 40 mm and it weighs 3.4 kilograms. So technically it is not a laptop neither does it afford too much by way of portability. The Asus N73Jn is decorated with a gunmetal blue lid, graphite grey keyboard and a grey brushed palm rest. Given the huge dimensions of this laptop one would expect the keyboard to be top notch but unfortunately it isn’t. Although the keyboard is big enough and has dedicated numerical keys, it could have been a lot better. Some of the other Asus premium laptops and netbooks have the island key design which could have been incorporated on the Asus N73Jn too.
The N-series laptops from the company use SonicMaster audio solutions. It has a digital processor, a 3W amplifier, 32mm speakers and most significantly and 80cc speaker chamber which is 400% larger than other laptops according to the company. Though it sounds to be great technically, the Asus N73Jn speakers do not live upto the hype. The volume and clarity of sound is great but is not enough for a large room. So if you want music loud enough for a large room, you will do better with external speakers.
Under the hood, the performance of the Asus N73Jn is excellent. The graphics handling capacity is top notch aided by 2 graphics cards – one the fast Nvidia Geforce GT335M which is used for games and other heavy duty stuff, and the other is slower Intel card which is used when running graphics that are not very demanding. The 17.3 inch screen has very wide viewing angles and displays very good picture quality. Besides you also get a Blu-ray player located on the side on the laptop.
