The Google Nexus S smartphone is a newly launched device and the first phone to run on the latest version of the Anrdroid operating system-Gingerbread.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system from Google is incredibly fast. Browsing the web is a dream experience and with Flash Player 10.1 also being supported, viewing video content is also possible. Android’s appearance has also been modified a bit. Google says that the changes are designed to improve battery life as the screen consumes less power. Nevertheless, compared to its competitors, Android is not very easy to use because it is far from intuitive. The list of features are endless but some of the features are not much helpful for the common user. For example, the Google Nexus S supports NFC (near field communication) which means that you could wave your device near NFC enabled stickers to do things like paying for goodies using a wireless payment system. However, presently it is not of much help except for being bombarded with marketing information. You could wave your phone against film posters and it would load a related website for you.

Google Nexus S designed with the latest Android platform, co-developed by Samsung and Google

Another unique feature is the built in SIP, which is the protocol used for making calls over the internet. So you can make phone calls over the internet without installing a separate app for it. It is quite an appealing feature because it is free. However installing this feature isn’t quite as appealing. The voice quality in the calls is poor with a lot of delay but there should be no complaint, because you do not have to pay for it.

The Google Nexus S has a Super AMOLED screen which is very vivid and does not reflect blindingly in bright daylight. Considering the large screen and the power packed in this device, it is surprisingly light weight. The screen is slightly curved which helps it to sit nicely against your face when you are making calls. It has a 16 GB storage though there is no memory card slot. But it should be easy to store your music, videos and pictures because you can connect the Google Nexus S to your computer like a flash drive. You can also use it for games because Android has the best gaming performance with 1Ghz main processor and a specialized graphics processor.

Overall, the Google Nexus S is a phone which exudes raw performance though it is not very intuitive to use. So if you got deep pockets, you can spend it on a phone that truly displays how smart Android 2.3 Gingerbread can be.
